    After a cold winter, Continental is bouncing back into action with the new single from French funky glam-rockers Fancy out Monday 6th may, ’69’! 

    Famed for its tight live performances and its androgynous frontman the Parisian band - comprising of Jessie Chaton (vox & keyboards), Mom (guitar) , Rae Mone (bass) and their drummer Antoine - has an album and several singles under its belt (including ‘All Night Long’ on Vitalic’s label). Blessed with an ear for killer choruses, Jessie is an uncanny French singer/songwriter struck by celestial inspiration (he has co-written Justice’s ‘D.A.N.C.E’ and Rinocérôse’s ‘Bitch’). 

    As always the package boasts the original and a handful of remixes aimed at djs from the likes of Continental’s own JBAG, new kid on the blogs Jean Tonique and Parisian rockers Gush.

    So Fancy ‘69’, lust and sleaze all around? Or fusional love’s playful eulogy?

  7. OUT & ABOUT // David Bowie V&A retrospective’s party

    This week was the launch of the David Bowie exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Gathering hundreds of personal items including 60 stage outfits covering the Thin White Duke 50 year career span’s many personas, this unusual display is currently the talk of the town (and beyond) and its party send off was none the less flamboyant.
    With a VIP list including all the usual suspects from the fashion, music, cinema and art worlds (Westwood, Kane, Ghallager, Swinton, Emin…) the party with over a thousand guests fuelled by champagne had a little boogie and a peep at the displayed garments (complete with audio guide).

    2 Many DJs, they’re Londoners these days, performed a live 1 hour megamix of their fave Bowie tunes (check their Radio Soulwax homage), whilst Continental’s own Jerry Bouthier played some ‘Bowie inspired’ tunes from the likes of Friendly Fires, Goldfrapp, Cut Copy, Chilly Gonzales, The B-52’s, Two Door Cinema Club, Fancy, RAC, Metronomy, Is Tropical, Aztec Camera, Yeasayer, Noah & The Whale…
